Annie Brena: Caregiver of the Month

Anthony Bourdain wrote, “No one understands and appreciates the American Dream of hard work leading to material rewards better than a non-American.” This best describes Annie Brena, Care Indeed’s Caregiver of the Month. Her motto in life is this: determine never to be idle. She works very hard and has done much for her clients and her family.

Annie is being recognized as Caregiver of the Month for having consistently demonstrated these traits: dependability, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. She is currently providing care to three clients with with varying condtions and needs. The first patient suffers from dementia; the second patient has a colostomy; and the third patient needs help mainly with housekeeping duties. Annie always arrives on time, never calls in sick, and stays longer on her shift if she needs to. She has a kind heart; she is very patient and compassionate. She always keeps in mind that her clients’ needs come first. She enjoys caring for others; being able to help inspires her. Her favorite quote was written by Thomas Jefferson, “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”

Annie is a Certified Nurse Assistant. She has cared for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, and Parkinson’s disease. She is CPR Certified. She takes vital signs and is proficient in using most home medical equipment. In addition to providing non-medical home care, she performs these duties: cleaning, laundry, ironing, shopping, and errands.

Annie is an extraordinary person. It takes a lot of strength, energy, and determination to truly care about others enough to place oneself last. Besides providing outstanding care to her clients, she has generously provided for her loved ones in the Philippines. She has sent four relatives to college and is helping an older sister get a bachelor’s degree.
